You might be wondering, what's it really like at North Hills Church? Simply stated, at North Hills, we're all about loving God and loving others. You won't be met with shame, guilt, or condemnation. And we don't care how you're dressed or what candidate you voted for. Our church is made up of imperfect people with every kind of story imaginable.
Want to know the best part? No matter what you've been through or what questions you might have about God and faith, our church is a place where you'll find the love, grace, and forgiveness Jesus gives to everyone. We are a family of individuals who believe in God and live life together in the patterns of Jesus. We journey together (across all ages) in many ways to become disciples of Jesus and to learn to disciple others.
We are seeking to love, trust, and follow Jesus every day of our lives; to connect with God and connect with others. You are welcome here!
More than ever, North Hills Church is committed to fostering a family of faith, built around being disciples of Jesus and multiplying more disciples of Christ. As we move forward as a church family, everything we do is meant to point people to Jesus, prioritize building his kingdom on earth, and to love God and love all the people He created...
The Church is instructed to be God's instrument in the world for healing and restoration. As a Church, we are to live out the great commission and love the world as Christ's ambassadors. The Church accomplishes this mission when we make disciples of Christ and equip the saints to love and minister to the world, multiplying his Kingdom through the hearts of men and women...
We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We invite you to own and express them personally as you pursue God with us.
We serve a living and relational God who wants to be known and has revealed himself to us through his Son Jesus, the creation, and the holy scriptures. Our lives were built to be fulfilled by knowing him and as we are his “image bearers” we are also enriched by knowing and being known by others.
Following Christ (discipleship) doesn't happen outside of relationships with him and his followers, so we rely on an intentionally relational discipleship method to see the kingdom of God expand. (1 Thessalonians 2:8)
It’s not just about what we give, but we say live generously because we care about the heart of the matter; that we were generously spared from death and given life through Christ's sacrifice and now we emulate that and share of all his great provision of our time, talents and treasure. (1 John 3:16-18, Acts 20:35, Luke 11:13, Malachi 3:10-12, Matthew 10:8)
Contrary to most competitions, this game is won by lifting others up, not ourselves. 1 Peter 3:15 “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy,” Romans 12:10 “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”
We steward and lead the people in our lives, especially the next generation towards Christ’s eternal kingdom. People are the treasure that endures into eternity when we all trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior. So we will steward all that we have been entrusted with our kids, friendships, our influence, our time, our health, our wealth, and the earth towards this assured eventuality. (Matthew 6:19-21, Genesis 2:4, Genesis 12:1-3, Psalm 78:1-8)
Make God look good by being his people of excellence. Long ago, King David and his son Solomon built a beautiful temple with the finest and most excellent materials and construction used to worship and glorify God. Today “we are his workmanship”, His temple, and his royal priesthood. We act in excellence to glorify and worship Him. (1 Corinthians 3:16, Psalm 95:2, Colossians 2:7, 1 Corinthians 10:31)
“Its not about winning or losing its about how we play the game.” We are a safe place to visit but we are a dangerous place to stay because repentance, correction, accountability, training, and personal growth are an assumed part of the Christian life and a key to the “life to the full” promised by Jesus. It's not to be overlooked, or you may miss out on all the adventures that Jesus has for you. (Mark 2:17, 2 Timothy 6:16-17)
We will join God where He is moving! There is nothing so fulfilling, exciting and satisfying as living a life surrendered and devoted to God's plan and will for our lives. His story is the greatest love story, the greatest adventure ever talked about the grandest kingdom ever conceived and greatest source of joy that can ever be found. (John 10:10)
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.
Jesus Christ is at the center of everything. We believe that Jesus is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life. We believe that Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
John 1:1-18, John 1:49-50, John 20:31, Mark 1:1, Matthew 16:15-17, John 5:18-23, John 10:30-33, Colossians 1:15-17, Colossians 2:9, Hebrews 4:15, John 8:28, John 12:49, Mark 6:2, Luke 19:37, John 14:11, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Hebrews 9:15, Isaiah 53:45, Matthew 26:39, Romans 1:1-4, Philippians 2:5-8, John 14:11, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, 1 Timothy 2:5-6, Acts 2:22-36, Revelation 1:7-8, Matthew 24:27, Matthew 16:27, James 5:7, Acts 1:10-11
We believe that the God of the Bible is the one true God, who is the Creator and Ruler of all. We believe that as Creator and Ruler all authority belongs to Him. We believe that God’s nature exists in three persons: the Father, Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit. We believe that each member of the trinity is fully God while uniquely distinct from the others. We believe That God’s presence creates, restores, and sustains all life.
Deuteronomy 6:4, Genesis 1, John 1:1-14, 1 Chronicles 29:10-13, Isaiah 44:6, Isaiah 46:9-10, Psalm 24:1-2, Revelation 1:8, Matthew 28:19, Luke 1:35, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Acts 5:3-4, 2 Corinthians 13:14
We believe the Bible - both Old and New Testaments - is God’s word written by men whom the Holy Spirit inspired so we can understand the nature of God, His love for us, and His story as it is unfolding around us. We believe the Bible has been supernaturally preserved and humanly treasured in a way that brings it to us today without error or flaw. We believe the Bible is our ultimate source of truth defining God’s moral standard, God’s preference in worship, and wisdom to live by as God the Creator saw fit.
Jeremiah 1:9, 2 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV), 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Romans 15:4, John 17:17, Psalm 18:30, Psalm 119:1-8, Psalm 119:33-35, Psalm 119:91-93, Psalm 119:137-138, Psalm 119:165, Proverbs 3:5-6, Joshua 1:7-9, Hebrews 4:12
We believe that men and women were uniquely created in God’s image to reflect His qualities, glorify Him and live in loving relationship with the Father. We believe that God breathed physical and spiritual life into man and sustains life through His presence. Yet, mankind has chosen to rebel and be fraudulent gods, deciding for themselves what is good or evil. In doing so mankind’s sin and rebellion has separated him from God, leading to spiritual death, relational death, and physical death.
Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:7, 1 Timothy 2:3, John 17:3, Genesis 2:15-17, Genesis 3:1-19, Romans 5:12, Romans 3:9-12, Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:1-2, Isaiah 59:2, Romans 1:20-32, Jeremiah 17:9, Matthew 15:19-20, James 1:13-15, Isaiah 5:20
We believe that salvation and reconciliation to God comes from no one other than Jesus Christ. There is no way for a man to do enough good to restore his relationship with God and overcome the consequences of his sin. We believe Jesus’ crucifixion was the payment and atonement for our sin as he offered himself as substitute for the judgment and penalty of our sin. We believe that through a trusting faith and relationship acknowledging and declaring Jesus as our Savior and Lord that we can accept His free gift of grace. We believe this gift is offered to all mankind but that only some will choose to repent while others may remain in their rebellion deceived about their fate. We believe that those who accept Jesus’ gift of grace will live eternally with God while those who continue to reject God will be eternally separated from Him in Hell as a punishment for their rejection and rebellion.
Matthew 26:26-29, 1 Peter 2:24, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 1:7-8, 1 John 2:1-2, Romans 5:6-11, Romans 10:9, John 10:10, Colossians 1:21-24, Romans 6:20-23, Galatians 5:16-23, Romans 6:11-14, Colossians 1:9-14, John 3:16-18, John 17:3, Ephesians 2:4-10, Romans 3:23-26, John 11:25-26
We believe that the church is the bride of Christ made up of the body of believers. We believe the story of the church is a great romance unfolding as we prepare for the return of our Groom and thus a great celebration in eternity. During this preparation, the Church is instructed to be God's instrument in the world for healing and restoration. As a Church, we are to live out the great commission and love the world as Christ's ambassadors. The Church accomplishes this mission when we make disciples of Christ and equip the saints to love and minister to the world, multiplying his Kingdom through the hearts of men and women. In the Church, we cast off the enemy's deception of shame and gather together as one in identity with Christ. Therefore, as the local church, we use our time, talents, and resources to serve each other and the world ministering and encouraging believers and the lost. Scripture commands believers to gather regularly for worship, prayer, fellowship, the teaching of the Word, and to practice baptism and communion. Every local church is responsible to represent Jesus in this context to their community.
Romans 16:5, 1 Corinthians 12:27, Colossians 1:24, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Acts 12:5, Ephesians 3:10-11, Ephesians 1:22-23, Colossians 1:17-20, Ephesians 3:6, Ephesians 4:15-16, Ephesians 5:29, Acts 4:32-37, Romans 12:4-8, 1 Thessalonians 5:14-18, 1 Corinthians 12:12-26, Acts 2:42-47, Colossians 3:15, Hebrews 10:23-25, Luke 22:19, 1 Corinthians 11:24-26, Matthew 28:19
We believe in the importance of baptism. Baptism symbolizes a believer's commitment to Jesus and His teachings, and is an outward act of confessing our faith in Him. We believe that baptism is essential to Christian discipleship, and it is a beautiful way to proclaim our allegiance to Jesus. Baptism is a sacred and meaningful experience, and we are deeply committed to helping believers celebrate this important milestone in their journey of faith. By celebrating and honoring baptism, we are proclaiming our faith in Jesus and our desire to serve Him and others.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is the unifying power between God and humanity, and is the source of our comfort, guidance, and strength. The Holy Spirit helps us to understand and appreciate the Bible, and helps us to live out its teachings in our lives. We believe that the Holy Spirit is with us always, faithfully guiding us in our walk with God. We also believe that the Holy Spirit gives us gifts such as wisdom, knowledge, understanding, healing, miracles, tongues, and prophecy so that we can be used to serve God and spread His love.
We believe in the power of prayer, both individually and corporately, as an expression of faith in God's work in our lives. Prayer is an essential part of a Christian life and is used to talk to God and to communicate with Him. We pray for guidance, strength, healing, protection, and for our families, friends, and community. Through prayer, we seek to deepen our understanding of God's will and His plans for our lives. Praying helps us grow closer to God and to gain a better understanding of His will and how we can best serve Him. When we pray, we open ourselves up to God and He will answer us in His own way and in His own time. Prayer is a beautiful and powerful way to communicate with our Heavenly Father and to seek His love and guidance.
Meet the leaders who are here to serve and shepherd you at North Hills!
North Hills Church began more than 100 years ago in the heart of downtown Phoenix. As the city expanded, so did our vision to serve the needs of the Phoenix community. Since then we have followed God's leading to move twice, now settled in our current location in a neighborhood near Greenway and Cave Creek Rd. We believe God has called us to this place at this time to help fulfill his mission and to love and serve the people in our neighborhood.
While the location of our community has changed, the mission of the community remains to seek after God and God's mission for us: to love God and love others. We are passionate about impacting the world around us as we grow closer to the heart of God.
We are a non-denominational church affiliated with the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana).
More than ever, North Hills Church is committed to fostering a family built around being and making disciples of Jesus. As we move forward as a church family, everything we do is meant to point people to Jesus, to build his kingdom on earth, and to love God and love others.
